Training Educators on Project Learning Tree

For its #CentennialChallenge, the West Virginia Division of Forestry planned to help 100 educators (formal and non-formal) better utilize natural resources curriculum in the classroom with Project Learning Tree (PLT).

One of the West Virginia Division of Forestry’s Forest Action Plan goals was to bring forestry to the classroom. The agency will use PLT as that vehicle, in addition to equipping agency foresters with the tools needed to help teach students in school settings.

Update: 297 educators were trained to better utilize natural resources curriculum in the classroom with Project Learning Tree (PLT).  Remarkably, 96 of these educators were trained after COVID-19 restrictions were in place in West Virginia

PLT training for foresters and educators in West Virginia using an activity called Matchstick Forest, Every Tree for Itself and the Peppermint Beetle.
